This is the weekend we have all been waiting for. Our RV Park has a Float in this years Citrus Festival Float Parade. This has been 12 months in the planning and building. The floats this year has to be at least 30% fruit that is locally grown. I personally did not work on this float, but I was sure proud to go to the Parade and take some pictures. I had got to know quiet a few people that had spent many hours on this float. Great Job !! They worked extremely hard. This years theme was Mardi Gras !! A Lot of beautiful colours.
There are about 500 RV parks down in the Rio Grand Valley. A number of those parks all have a King & A Queen. They are on the thrown for a full year. They are nominated by people from their park. They are nominated in recognition for all their hard voluntary work that they do. Our park has a Queen but sadly no King. The king passed away during this last summer. The park manager Scott offered to step up and sit with our queen Margie on the float for the parade of the Kings and Queens. Laugh you might, like I did when I first heard about this. BUT these people are hard working and never stop. Our Queen Margie is 80 years old and I tell you, that woman is so energetic, she could walk me out of sight on a dark night. She also has a great sense of humour to boot as well. If I had grandmother, I would like it to be Margie Hewitt.
I was up Bright and early to get some pictures before the float left on its trip to the starting gates.
